Swingbridge and
Comet Line.
At 110 metres long the swingbridge is an experience in itself. It is the best place to get photos of the mighty Buller River and the spectacular pink granite that lines the gorge.
The 160 metre comet line spans the river adjacent to the swingbridge and is the first commercial long distance high speed flying fox in New Zealand. Challenge yourself to a flight across the river in the secure harness. Capture the experience with your video from the bridge. |

Gold Panning
The land at the tip of Whites Peninsular has been a working gold claim for over 120 years. The Buller Gorge Swingbridge offers you the opportunity to capture the thrill of trying your own luck and finding some colour. If you are short of time, try panning at the troughs on the other side of the bridge. Otherwise take the opportunity to explore the property and try panning at the marked sites where gold has been found. Maps provided. |

Guided walks.
With your gold panning enjoy a short walk on the property. A guide will take you around the significant points of interest. See old workings from the various mining periods, observe the harsh and dramatic effects
of the 1929 Murchison earthquake and learn about New Zealands native flora and fauna. Finish your walk with a cup of billy tea brewed in the old fashioned way on a miners fire. Departing hourly through the peak season and by request at other times (three people minimum).

| The Buller Gorge Swingbridge also offers a wilderness guided walk along Whites Peninsular. This walk takes you along the river bank to the scene of the Buller River Diversion tunnel outfall. The walk follows the peninsular and fault-line back to the Swing Bridge and includes a commentary on the history of gold mining lunch and gold panning. (2.5-3 hour walk, suitable footwear required). |
